The slides from my keynote lecture at the CESSMIR Conference on Needs and Care Practices for Refugees and Migrants can be found here. Some snapshots below. Basically, I argue that we need to be careful with our language/discourses and we need to think about:
- Why we care about migration & health: what are we advocating for?
- Global policy processes and associated politics of policy making – and associated geopolitics and power [i.e. whose voice is loudest; who is setting global agendas]
- Concerns that health will be (is being) coopted to support securitisation agendas
